Syncretism, Room40's series of eclectic music from across the plains returns in January 2010 with an evening of intermodal/intermedia electroacoustic goodness - with performances from TIMEART ensemble, Streifenjunko and Clare Cooper/Clayton Thomas.
TIMEART ensemble is a vision of utter unity. Bringing together instruments, electronics and immense projections, the group of some 30 international collaborators combine these individual elements into something completely intricate, immersive and visionary. Self proclaimed 'Intermedial Improvisors' TIMEART seeks out new connections and possibilities through the explorations of light, sound and space. For their Australian tour in 2010, six of the groups members are on call:
Michel Doneda, soprano saxophone (FR)
Kym Myhr, guitar (NO)
Sven Hahne, electronics/video (DE)
Matthias Muche, trombone (DE)
Clayton Thomas, bass (AU)
Clare Cooper, Harp (AU)
Joining TIMEART ensemble are Norwegian duet Streifenjunko, whose expanded instrumental techniques utilising Tenor Saxophone and Trumpet have scored them a lauded place alongside the world's finest avant garde players including Keith Rowe and Tetuzi Akiyama.
Add to this performances from now Berlin based Australian improvisors Clayton Thomas and Clare Cooper and you have an evening of transfixing improvised sound, vision and more!
